History of Ultimate – Jacksonville, Florida

I’m a nerd for weird things. I like reading, playing video games, board games, etc., your run-of-the-mill nerd stuff. But I’m also a nerd in that I like knowledge and collecting things. I have every physical ticket stub I got at the movies from the time I was 14 – things like that. To that end, I love learning the history, or, as the youngsters call it, lore behind certain lesser-known or unsexy topics. I was always more interested in the stories and people behind certain things – in my AP Calculus course my senior year (which I dropped after the first quarter), I did a project on the history of calculus and some of its important figures.

This project aims to chronologically recount the history of the sport of Ultimate in Jacksonville, Florida. From general information on club teams to in-depth stories from players and members of the community, I wanted to create a place where people can learn the history of the sport I love in a city I love.
